Due to high court ruling, mistrial declared in talc case against Johnson & Johnson

A multiplaintiff complaint against Johnson & Johnson has resulted in a mistrial after the U.S. Supreme Court handed down a ruling on a similar case, altering the outcome of the lawsuit targeting consumer talc products distributed by the defendant and its contracted distributors.

ST. LOUIS — Johnson & Johnson was dealt a blow to an appeal motion when a three-judge panel opted to not issue an opinion in a high-stakes talcum powder lawsuit against the company.

ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Court of Appeals for the Eastern District has opted out of providing an opinion on a talcum powder lawsuit against Johnson & Johnson with more than $72 million in liability at stake until the U.S. Supreme Court rules on whether or not plaintiffs from out of state can bring claims to a specific jurisdiction.
