ST. LOUIS — A union is suing an airline, citing alleged failure to comply with the collective bargaining agreement.

International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Airline Division and Local Union No. 618 filed a complaint July 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri against GoJet Airlines LLC alleging that the defendant violated the Railway Labor Act (RLA) and the Declaratory Judgment Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that starting March 5, 2016, the defendant agreed under a collective bargaining agreement that employees are protected when it comes to their rates of pay, rules and working conditions. The plaintiffs claim the defendant allegedly made midterm unilateral changes to pilots' rates of pay that were not negotiated with the union and were not agreed by the union. 

The plaintiffs hold GoJet Airlines responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to comply with the collective bargaining agreement, unilaterally and unlawfully altered agreements affecting rates of pay, rules, or working conditions without knowledge of the union and failed to exert any reasonable effort to maintain agreements nor to settle disputes.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment for preliminary and permanent injunctive relief from interfering with, coercing, or discriminating against the pilots covered by the agreement, award of attorneys' fees and all additional relief that may equitable.
