ST. LOUIS — A cook is suing a St. Louis pancake restaurant, citing alleged racial discrimination and wrongful termination.

Kerry Moses filed a complaint Aug. 24 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Uncle Bill's Pancake House, alleging the defendant violated the Missouri Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between Aug. 1, 2015, and Dec. 1, 2015, he experienced a hostile work environment, including racial discrimination, inappropriate language and unfair treatment toward employees of color. The plaintiff stood up for those employees and against discrimination, which he claims led to his termination.

The plaintiff holds Uncle Bill's Pancake House responsible because the defendant allegedly allowed, fostered and maintained a racially discriminatory climate, made unfair treatment in terms of conditions of employment to employees of color and terminated employees based on race, gender, and nationality.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks award for damages in excess of $25,000, including attorney's fees, costs and for other relief the court deems proper. He is represented by Chloe Woods and Larry S. Fields of Fields & Associates LLC in St. Louis.
