ST. LOUIS – The city of St. Louis is being sued by an individual who alleges he was injured by a rock thrown by a lawnmower operated by a city employee while visiting a park.

Johnnie Jackson Jr. filed a complaint on Dec. 14 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against the city of St. Louis alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 26, 2016, he was lawfully within the limits of Chambers Park in St. Louis when he was struck by a rock in the leg that was expelled from the lawnmower operated by defendant's employee. He alleges he sustained severe and permanent injuries, including but not limited to contusions to the head, dizziness, leg pain, neck pain and back pain and was caused to undergo extensive emergency treatment.

The plaintiff holds the city of St. Louis responsible because the defendant's employee allegedly failed to use ordinary care while operating the lawnmower by using a bungee cord to hold back the protective flap to the lawnmower bag.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $25,000, plus costs and all further relief that the court may deem just and proper. He is represented by Anna M. Lammert of Page Law LLC in St. Louis.
