ST. LOUIS - A lengthy class action suit first filed in the St. Louis City Circuit Court accuses ThyssenKrupp Materials and ThyssenKrupp Supply Chain Services of failing to keep its employees' personal information safe.

According to the Feb. 22 lawsuit, the employer was subjected to a ransomware attack on its servers in December of 2020 that compromised personally identifiable information (PII) of all its current and former employees.

The company, which removed the case to federal court on April 2, allegedly did not notify its more than 4,000 employees of the data breach until a month later.

The attack compromised information such as names, dates of birth, addresses, bank information, Social Security numbers and health records, the suit says.

The company's data has been breached twice before since 2016, the suit says.

The class representatives Darnell Crawford and Michael Dew sue the defendants for negligence, negligence per se, invasion of privacy and breach of contract.

The class is represented by Corney Danis and Lowe of St. Louis and Muchnick Haber Margolic LC of Clayton.
