ST. LOUIS — A Missouri man with a disability is suing individuals and businesses, citing alleged disability discrimination and invasion of privacy.

Robert Hall filed a complaint in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Chermyne Griggs, Rent-A-Center East Inc., Marvin Williams and St. Louis Psychiatric Stabilization Center, alleging they violated the Missouri Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges he suffered damages for lost wages and benefits, emotional distress and embarrassment after Williams, who works at the psychiatric center, told Griggs of his medical condition. Griggs works at the Rent-A-Center, where Hall also worked, and held a meeting with Hall's coworkers to discuss his medical condition, the complaint said.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly recklessly disregarded the plaintiff's rights, wrongfully published his medical condition, treated him differently and failed to prevent discrimination.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $25,000, costs of suit, attorney's fees and such other relief. He is represented by Bret C. Kleefus of The Law Offices of Derald L. Gab in St. Louis.
