CAPE GIRARDEAU — A patient is suing a physician and medical facility, citing medical malpractice.
Pamela Craig filed a complaint Aug. 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri Southeastern Division against Dr. Franklin H. McGinty, Dr. Boniface (Charles) Ndah and Laboratory Corp. of America, alleging they failed to exercise a degree of care, skill and knowledge customarily employed by general surgeons.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 10, 2015, she was released from the defendants' care after various excision of a lesion on her back without a referral to an oncologist or surgical oncologist. In June, she was diagnosed with malignant melanoma that involved her lymph nodes. Oncologist pathology slides stated treatment should have started immediately.
The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they failed to monitor her condition to ensure that the operation was successful and failed to make an appropriate referral to other health care providers to monitor and evaluate her condition.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for a sum in excess of $75,000, with cost of suit and other relief the court deems proper. She is represented by Mark S. Johnson of Johnson, Schneider & Ferrell LLC in Cape Girardeau.
