Former Hillside Manor Healthcare nursing director claims he experienced hostile environment

ST. LOUIS — A nursing director is suing a former employer, citing alleged discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination.

Jason Caputo filed a complaint in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Hillside Manor Healthcare and Rehab Center LLC, alleging that the former employer violated the Missouri Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff transferred a nurse out of her position, and his staff did not approve of the decision. As a result, he claims he experienced extreme hostile work environment, fear for his life and his family, harassment, loss of income, emotional distress and other pecuniary and nonpecuniary damages. He was terminated from his position on Aug. 17, 2016. The plaintiff holds Hillside Manor Healthcare and Rehab Center LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly subjected him to severe and pervasive discrimination and violent threats, retaliation and termination for reporting crimes committed by employees.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in excess of $25,000, plus interest, attorney's fees, costs and all further relief as the court deems proper. He is represented by Jeremy D. Hollingshead of Hollingshead & Dudley in St. Louis.
