ST. LOUIS — A driver is suing another motorist, citing alleged negligence.

Alnita Smiley filed a complaint Oct. 18 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Hamadi Maalin, alleging he breached his duty to operate his vehicle in a careful and prudent manner.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 6 she was driving eastbound on Gravois Avenue at its intersection with Hydraulic Avenue when the defendant, who was coming from the opposite direction, made a left turn and struck her vehicle. She claims she sustained severe and permanent injuries to her head, neck and back. The plaintiff holds Maalin responsible because the defendant allegedly violated the traffic signal and proceeded through the intersection contrary to the light, failed to yield to oncoming traffic and failed to maintain a careful lookout.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in a fair and reasonable amount, plus interest, costs and any further relief as the court may deem just and proper. She is represented by Mark T. McCloskey and Patricia N. McCloskey of McCloskey PC in St. Louis.
