ST. LOUIS — A passenger in a motor vehicle accident is suing the driver and owner of the vehicle he was riding in, citing alleged negligence.

Andre Woods filed a complaint on Nov. 8, in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Jarvis Jackson, the driver of the vehicle he was riding in, and Ashley Garth, the owner of the vehicle, alleging that Garth negligently entrusted her vehicle to a careless driver.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 30, 2016, he was a passenger in Garth's motor vehicle, when he was when injured after Jackson carelessly made a left turn from Maffitt Avenue onto Union Boulevard and struck several cars in a parking lot. Woods allegedly sustained injuries to various parts of his body and nervous system resulting in medical expenses and diminished ability to work. The plaintiff alleges Jackson failed to maintain proper control of the vehicle, failed to maintain careful lookout, and failed to stop or swerve to avoid colliding with the parked vehicles.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in a fair and reasonable amount of $25,000, plus interest and costs, as well as any further relief as the court deems just and proper. He is represented by William K. Holland of Goldblatt + Singer in St. Louis.
