ST. LOUIS (Legal Newsline) – Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster filed a civil lawsuit against 5 Star Paving, Christopher Haynes, Charles Haynes, Nancy Haynes and Randy Williams over allegations of violating state consumer laws by taking money for asphalt jobs and then failing to complete promised work.

5 Star allegedly made repeated promises to finish jobs it had taken money for or provide refunds, yet failed to do either. For one local job, the company purportedly tore out a portion of the old parking lot and then never showed up again. For other jobs, the defendants provided asphalt that began to crumble away within days of pouring. Total losses from consumers involved amount to close to $50,000.

“This time of year we often receive complaints about asphalt companies not doing the job they promised or using inferior-quality product,” Koster said. “When a company fails to do work as promised after taking a significant amount of money we will take action to protect Missouri consumers.”
