Caruthersville man claims Regions Bank violated phone call laws

CAPE GIRARDEAU — A Caruthersville man is suing Regions Bank, citing alleged violation of telephone harassment statutes.

Dustin Isable filed a complaint on Dec. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri against Regions Bank, alleging that the bank violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) through intrusive and unwanted calls.

According to the complaint, Isable says that he received incessant calls from Regions Bank in an attempt to collect an alleged debt. Isable requested that the bank not contact him, but it continued to call using an automatic telephone dialing system, causing him emotional distress, the complaint states.

Isable holds Regions Bank responsible because it allegedly continued to make calls despite his explicit demand to stop, and unlawfully utilized an automatic telephone dialing system or an artificial or pre-recorded voice.

Isable requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against Regions Bank, statutory damages of $500 for every violation, $1,500 for every knowing violation, court costs, witness fees and other fees incurred, and other relief that the court deems appropriate. He is represented by Adam T. Hill of Krohn & Moss Ltd. in Chicago.
