ST. LOUIS — An Italian manufacturer is suing Chesterfield-based American Piping Products Inc., citing alleged breach of contract.

Officine Santafede SRL filed a complaint on Dec. 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri against American Piping, alleging that the corporation breached its duty of good faith and fair dealing.

According to the complaint, Officine Santafede says that in May and June 2015 it sold flanges to American Piping and it suffered monetary losses in the amount of $217,470.55 for delivery of multiple flange products that the company  failed to pay for. The plaintiff has not received payment for any portion of the invoiced products to date.

Officine Santafede holds American Piping Products responsible because it allegedly failed to fulfill its obligations under the agreement and failed to pay for ordered products.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in the amount of $217,470.55, attorneys’ fees, court costs, prejudgment and post-judgment interest, and further relief to which plaintiff may be entitled. Officine Santafede is represented by Stephen A. Mendel of The Mendel Law Firm LP in Houston.
