ST. LOUIS — A motorist from Clinton County, Illinois, is suing a company based in Michigan, citing alleged negligence.

Steve Winkeler filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri against Koleaseco Leasing LLC, Koleaseco Logistics Inc. and Koleaseco Inc. alleging that they failed to exercise standard care and skill required in operating a vehicle.

According to the complaint, Winkeler alleges that on Oct. 27, 2015, he suffered extensive physical injuries and pain and suffering, incurred medical expenses and has impairment of future earning capacity as a result of a car crash. The claim states that Winkeler was rear-ended by an agent of Koleaseco as he was driving along Interstate 270 in Franklin County.

Winkeler holds the defendants responsible because the the driver allegedly failed to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles and operated the defendants' vehicle at an excessive rate of speed.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in excess $75,000 plus costs of the suit. He is represented by Thomas C. Rich, Kristina D. Cooksey and Michelle M. Rich of Rich, Rich & Cooksey PC in Fairview Heights.
