St. Charles County resident says detectives, prosecutor falsely accused him of crimes

ST. LOUIS — A St. Charles County resident is suing detectives and a prosecutor, citing alleged unlawful arrest and malicious prosecution.

Lydell Moore filed a complaint on Feb. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri against detectives Ronald Stepp and Jordan Exum and prosecutor Tanya S. Muhm, alleging that they violated the Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments of the U.S. Constitution.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that as a result of the defendants' unlawful acts, his parole officer revoked his parole on Aug. 9, 2014, and sent him back to the Missouri Department of Corrections to serve the remainder of his sentence. He has also suffered damages of $25,000 for attorney fees to defend against the allegedly false charges, loss of freedom and emotional and mental stress. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly subjected him to cruel and unusual punishment and arrest and framed and/or falsely accused of crimes that he could not have possibly committed.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory, punitive and special damages, attorney's fees and costs and such other relief as the court deems fair and appropriate.
