ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis man is suing Meridian Medical Technologies, a Pfizer company, citing alleged racial discrimination and wrongful termination.
Aaron Johnson filed a complaint on March 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri against the defendant alleging that the medical care provider violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and the Missouri Service Letter Statute.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff, who is African-American, alleges that on Oct. 9, 2015, Meridian Medical Technologies ended his employment because he allegedly did not know how to treat colleagues. The defendant also allowed union employees to retaliate against Johnson and attempt to have him fired after Johnson was told his team would have to work 12-hour shifts, the complaint states. The defendant's conscious and reckless disregard of his federal civil rights caused him to suffer loss income and benefits, loss of prestige, embarrassment, humiliation, damage to reputation and emotional distress. The plaintiff holds Meridian Medical Technologies responsible because it allegedly failed to respond to his certified letter and discriminated against him by terminating him while not terminating similarly situated white supervisors.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for all damages and costs of this litigation. He is represented by William J. Clark IV of Clark Law Offices LLC in St. Louis.
