Missouri woman claims American Family Mutual wrongfully denied insurance benefits after crash

Car accident 05

ST. LOUIS — A Missouri resident is suing an insurance company, citing alleged breach of insurance contract.

Alona Caldwell filed a complaint July 21 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against American Family Mutual Insurance Co. alleging that the Wisconsin corporation violated the covenant of good faith and fair dealing.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 3, she sustained injuries to her head, neck, back and abdomen when her vehicle was struck by an automobile driven by an underinsured motorist. The plaintiff claims she complied with all the conditions under the insurance policy but was denied benefits. The plaintiff holds American Family Mutual Insurance responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to pay insurance proceeds due to her.

The plaintiff seeks damages in an amount that is fair and reasonable, attorney fees and such other reasonable and proper relief. She is represented by Spencer E. Farris of The S.E. Farris Law Firm in St. Louis.
