ST. LOUIS — A patient is suing health care providers, citing alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.
Patsy Ann Dillon filed a complaint Aug. 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri Southeastern Division against Dr. Colleen J. Moore and Saint Francis Medical Center, alleging they negligently failed to exercise the degree of care, skill and knowledge employed by physicians and hospitals.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff she had leg pain and saw Moore for treatment. Moore gave her sclerosing injections, one of which the plaintiff claims became infected. The complaint states that Moore and Saint Francis Medical Center tried to treat the infection but were unsuccessful. The plaintiff then went to Southeast Missouri Hospital for treatment. According to the complaint, the infection had progressed, requiring amputation of her right leg below the knee and additional medical expenses. The plaintiff holds Moore and Saint Francis Medical Center responsible because Moore allegedly failed to administer the injection to avoid infection and failed to recognize and effectively treat plaintiff's infection.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants in excess of $75,000 and such other just and proper relief. She is represented by Mark S. Johnson of Johnson, Schneider & Ferrell LLC in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
