ST. LOUIS — A vehicle passenger is suing an estate, citing alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.
Jennie Sawyer of St. Louis filed a complaint Sept. 12 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against the estate of Jacob C.J. Schillinger, also known as Jacob Clarence Joseph Schillinger, alleging Schillinger failed to operate his vehicle in a careful and prudent manner.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 30, 2016, she was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Schillinger when she sustained severe, permanent and progressive injuries. She claims the crash on Interstate 55 is the result Schillinger's negligence. She says she has incurred medical and travel expenses and has suffered mental anguish, pain and suffering, and disfigurement. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible because Schillinger allegedly failed to maintain a careful lookout, negligently drove his vehicle at an excessive rate of speed and failed to keep his vehicle on the roadway.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in excess of $25,000, costs for this action and other relief deemed proper. She is represented by Matthew J. Padberg and Michael P. Corrigan of Padberg, Corrigan & Appelbaum in St. Louis.
