Jefferson County resident injured in collision files negligence suit

Car accident 31

ST. LOUIS — A Jefferson County resident is suing a motorist over injuries he sustained as a passenger during a collision.

Robert Reiner filed the complaint on Oct. 11 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Lawrence Casey of St. Louis, alleging that the motorist failed to exercise a standard of care and skill required to operate a vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 2, 2016, he suffered severe injuries to his extremities, pain, limitation of movement and was caused to expend funds for medical treatment, all as a result of the negligence of the defendant in operating his vehicle. Casey's vehicle struck the vehicle the plaintiff was riding in.

The plaintiff holds Casey responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to yield, failed to take other action to avoid a collision and was driving too fast for the road conditions.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for damages in excess of $25,000 and other costs expended. He is represented by John Malec of Martin, Malec & Leopold PC in St. Louis.
