ST. LOUIS — A former employee is suing a local cafe and its owner, alleging she was subject to sexual harassment while at work.
Anna McNamara filed a complaint on Nov. 2 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Dado's Cafe Inc., and its chef and owner Nick Avouris, alleging that they violated the Missouri Human Rights Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that during her employment with the defendants she was subjected to uninvited sexual advances, inappropriate physical contact, and embarrassing and humiliating photographs and comments. She also alleges that the behavior got so unbearable that she decided to resign; however, when she went to quit on Oct. 8, 2016 she was told she was being terminated.
As a result, McNamara alleges she has suffered lost wages and benefits, and emotional distress.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury; and seeks back pay and benefits, compensatory and punitive damages, attorney's fees, costs, and all other relief as the court deems proper. She is represented by George O. Suggs of Schuchat, Cook & Werner in St. Louis.
