Motorist accused of negligence after crash on Jefferson Avenue

Car accident 30

ST. LOUIS — A motorist is suing another driver, alleging insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.

Thyra Jones filed a complaint on Jan. 26 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against James Shemwell alleging he failed to maintain his vehicle under proper control.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 27, 2017 she was traveling northbound on Jefferson Avenue near its intersection with Chouteau Avenue in St. Louis when the defendant caused his vehicle to crash into her vehicle. She allegedly suffered injuries to her back, neck and shoulders; and sustained medical treatment expenses.

The plaintiff holds Shemwell responsible because he allegedly negligently attempted to merge into her lane of traffic.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury; and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than the jurisdictional limits of the court, and any further relief that are just and proper. She is represented by Gary Burger of Burger Law LLC in St. Louis.
