Mother and son accuse driver of negligence

ST. LOUIS — A woman and her son are suing a motor vehicle driver, alleging negligence and insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.

Megen Campbell and Rowan Campbell, a minor, filed a complaint on Feb. 5 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Roger Lewis Miner alleging that he breached his duty to operate his vehicle in a safe manner to avoid injuring others.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Oct. 25, 2016 the Campbells were passengers in a 2013 Kia Sorento traveling north on Jefferson Avenue approaching Interstate 44 when Miner negligently turned into the path of their vehicle, causing it to strike the rear of the defendant's vehicle. They allegedly suffered injuries that caused them to be weakened and become obligated to necessary medical expenses.

The plaintiffs hold Miner responsible because he allegedly failed to keep his vehicle under proper control by carelessly driving it at an excessive and dangerous speed, and by failing to observe rules of the road.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury; and seek judgment in their favor in an amount in excess of $25,000 for each of them, costs and all other relief that are just under the circumstances. They are represented by K. Lindsay Rakers of Tapella & Eberspacher LLC in Mattoon, Illinois.
