ST. LOUIS — A casino guest is suing Tropicana Entertainment Inc.,  alleging insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.

Betty Brooks filed a complaint on March 7 in the St. Louis Circuit Court alleging that the casino operator breached its duty to maintain its premises in a reasonably safe condition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 30, 2017 she was visiting the defendant's Lumiere Place Casino when a piece of metal came lose from one of the video gaming machines and hit her on the leg. She allegedly suffered injuries that required surgery.

The plaintiff holds Tropicana Entertainment responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain its gambling machine and failed to secure its metal doors.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury; and seeks award for damages in excess of $25,000, and all other relief that are proper and just. She is represented by David K. Simkins of Rynearson, Suess, Schnurbusch & Champion LLC in St. Louis.
