ST. LOUIS – A customer of a restaurant in St. Louis alleges that he incurred $17,000 in medical bills after slipping on ice at the restaurant.

Corey Tompkins filed a complaint on March 12 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against EJG Enterprises Inc., doing business as Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken, alleging premises liability.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 1, 2014, he was walking on the sidewalk in front of the door to the defendant's restaurant and was caused to fall due to a patch of ice. He alleges he suffered serious and permanent injuries to his left shoulder, right elbow and tailbone and incurred medical expenses of more than $17,000.

The plaintiff holds EJG Enterprises Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly inspect the sidewalk to discover and remove the dangerous condition and failed to provide warnings that such a danger existed.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant of more than $25,000, plus costs of court and any further relief that is proper and just. He is represented by Kari S. Peterson of O'Leary, Shelton, Corrigan, Peterson, Dalton & Quillin LLC in St. Louis.
