ST. LOUIS – A fundraiser attendee at a St. Louis Zoo event alleges she was injured because of the condition of a sidewalk.

Tina C. Nelson filed a complaint on March 26 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Metropolitan Park and Museum District, Zoological Subdistrict, doing business as St. Louis Zoo, alleging premises liability.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 16, 2017, she was a patron at St. Louis Zoo to attend black-tie fundraising event ZooFari. She alleges that as she was walking on the walkway, her left foot came down on an uneven or missing portion of it, which caused her to fall to the ground and into a rock barrier. She alleges she suffered damages to multiple parts of her body and incurred expenses of over $45,179 as a result of the fall.

The plaintiff holds Metropolitan Park and Museum District, Zoological Subdistrict responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to use ordinary care to remedy, warn of or protect against the allegedly dangerous condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in a sum of more than $25,000, costs of court and all other relief that are just and proper. She is represented by Michael H. Izsak and Erin M. Lenahan of Klar, Izsak & Stenger LLC in St. Louis.
