Motorcycle rider seeks uninsured motorist benefits from Progressive Casualty Insurance

Insurance 05

ST. LOUIS – A motorcycle rider alleges his insurer has failed to pay his claim for uninsured motorist benefits after an accident in St. Louis County.

Craig English filed a complaint on March 23 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Progressive Casualty Insurance Co. alleging that the licensed insurer breached the covenant of good faith and fair dealing.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 18, 2016, he was driving his motorcycle when he was injured in an accident caused by the negligence of an unknown motorist. At the time of the accident, he alleges he was covered under the uninsured motorist policy issued by the defendant.

On Nov. 30, 2016, the suit states the plaintiff made a demand for uninsured motorist benefits from the defendant.

The plaintiff holds Progressive Casualty Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed and refused to make payments in accordance with the terms of the insurance contract.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount of more than $25,000 but less than $75,000, with interest, costs, attorney fees, and all other just and proper relief. He is represented by Shaun M. Lieser and W. Alex Lamb of Lieser Law Firm LLC in St. Louis.
