ST. LOUIS – A man alleges he was shot by an assailant at a drugstore parking lot in view of a security guard.
Gentle Shaw filed a complaint in the St. Louis Circuit Court against St. Louis Drugstore Investment Inc., Walgreens Co. and John Doe alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 9, 2011, he was sitting in his vehicle parked at defendants' Union Boulevard, St. Louis parking lot when an assailant demanded his money and other belongings. The plaintiff alleges when he failed to comply, the assailant attacked him and discharged a firearm into his right leg. During all this time, the suit states the struggle was within the sight of defendant Doe, a security guard. The plaintiff alleges he incurred medical expenses of more than $25,000.
The plaintiff holds St. Louis Drugstore Investment Inc., Walgreens Co. and John Doe responsible because the Doe allegedly failed to respond or otherwise take action to address the assailant and neither investigated or attempted to intervene until a shot was fired.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant for an amount between $25,000 and $75,000, He is represented by Cecil L. Skaggs and Robert J. Shelli of Skaggs, Bramoweth & Shelli in St. Louis.
