ST. LOUIS – Two minor children are seeking damages from a St. Louis business and its general manager after their father was fatally shot there.

Mariah and Navayah Alfred, minors, by and through their next friend Mollie Lampley, filed a complaint on April 26 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Star Shop Inc., doing business as Shell, and Haitham Ali citing wrongful death.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 18, 2017, plaintiffs' father, Gerald Alfred, was shot, injured and died at defendants' Shell location at 3934 South Grand Ave., St. Louis.

The plaintiffs hold Star Shop Inc. and Ali responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide adequate security.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendants of more than $25,000, costs of court and any further relief as the court may deem proper and just. They are represented by Matthew P. O'Grady and Derek P. Sieck of Onder Law LLC in St. Louis.
