ST. LOUIS – A private, independent primary school in St. Louis is seeking a restraining order against the mother of a former student over allegations of threats.
The New City School Inc., for itself and its employees, filed a complaint on April 30 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Latonda Moody seeking a temporary restraining order and injunction.
According to the complaint, the defendant's minor child was enrolled in the fourth grade at plaintiff's school. The suit states on April 24, the child was playing a game of basketball at recess that "became too rowdy," and an employee intervened and diffused the situation without further incident. The plaintiff alleges the child did not complain of any injuries or problems.
The suit states that later that day, the defendant contacted the plaintiff and alleged that her child had been assaulted at recess. In a meeting the next day, the defendant allegedly threatened an employee and used racist epithets.
The plaintiff alleges it "and its employees are fearful for the safety of the school, its students and employees on account of the violent threat posed by defendant."
The plaintiff seeks entry of the proposed restraining order, judgment against the defendant, costs, legal fees and expenses and all other remedies that are just and appropriate. It is represented by Albert S. Watkins and Michael D. Schwade of Kodner Watkins LC in Clayton.
