Couple alleges Traders Insurance failed to pay adequate compensation after St. Louis crash

Car accident 21

ST. LOUIS – A husband and wife are seeking damages from their insurer and a driver after the driver allegedly disobeyed a red light and caused a collision in St. Louis.

Maricarmen Rivera and Jesus Coronel filed a complaint on May 3 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Traders Insurance Co. and Russell A. Mulikey Jr. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 23, 2017, Rivera suffered injuries to her back, neck and knees, incurred medical expenses and damage to property due to a motor vehicle accident caused by the negligence of Mulikey, an uninsured driver, who violated a red light. The suit states the collision occurred at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Utah Street in St. Louis.

At the time of the accident, the suit states she was insured under the insurance policy issued by Traders.

The plaintiffs hold Traders Insurance Co. and Mulikey Jr. responsible because Mulikey operated his vehicle knowing his license was suspended and without proper registration, operated his vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner and at an excessive speed. The plaintiffs allege Traders has refused to pay adequate compensation to Rivera for her injuries.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendants of more than $25,000, prejudgment interest, costs incurred herein and all other relief that are proper and just. They are represented by Victor C. Strauss in St. Louis.
