Apple Hospitality REIT alleges pest control company caused nearly $30,000 in damages

ST. LOUIS – The owner of a St. Louis property alleges an exterminator caused damage to the property.

Apple Hospitality REIT Inc. filed a complaint on June 4 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against C. Roberts Pest Control LLC alleging property damage.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges it hired the defendant to perform extermination services in one of its guestrooms. The suit states on May 3, 2017, the defendant was at the plaintiff's property for the extermination but failed to cover the sprinkler heads, causing them to activate when the defendant heated the rooms to 140 to 160 degrees. The plaintiff alleges the sprinkler activation caused water damage to several guestrooms in the total amount of $29,307.34.

The plaintiff seeks damages in the amount of $29,307.34, plus costs and such other and further relief as the court deems just and proper. It is represented by Mark G. McMahon and Michael B. Hill of Law Offices of Mark G. McMahon in Clayton.
