ST. LOUIS – An Ohio resident alleges he was discriminated against and constructively discharged by his former St. Louis employer.

John DiPaolo filed a complaint on June 4 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Ikea North America Services LLC, et al. alleging violation of the Missouri Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that during his employment with defendants as a salesperson beginning in May 2016 until he was constructively discharged in April 2017, he was subjected to different terms and conditions of employment because he is a transgender male.

The plaintiff holds Ikea North America Services LLC, et al responsible because the defendant allegedly subjected him to different work requirements and took adverse actions against him after he reported the discriminatory treatment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, all costs, fees and expenses and such other and further relief as the court deems just and proper. He is represented by Alexander Edelman and Katherine E. Myers of Edelman, Liesen & Myers LLP in Kansas City.
