ST. LOUIS – Primerica Life Insurance Co. is seeking a court's help regarding a claim for life insurance benefits filed by a woman who has been charged with a first-degree murder in connection with her husband's death.

The insurance company filed the complaint for interpleader in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri on June. 22

Primerica named the family of David Raymond Young (the deceased) in the complaint, which includes his wife Glenda Young and their three children. The insurance company said it is ready to pay out the full policy but can’t fulfill the obligation yet considering Glenda, who was listed as the primary beneficiary, is charged with first-degree murder in David’s death. Considering this, Primerica doesn’t know who to pay out the insurance policy to as all three children were listed as contingent beneficiaries.

"Plaintiff Primerica is ready, willing and able to pay the benefit due and owing under the policy, but under Missouri law and public policy, if Glenda Young willfully and unlawfully caused or participated with another in causing the death of the insured,  she is disqualified from receiving the benefit under the policy," the complaint states. "As a result, plaintiff is uncertain as to which defendant is entitled to the benefit."

In the complaint, Primerica said each of the defendants need to make their claims and agree on the issue among themselves before the court.

Primerica asked for relief in the terms of legal fees and pointed out that it had to hire a team of lawyers to sort out the matter. It said all of the fees should be paid from the $183,000 insurance policy.

“Unless the court grants the relief prayed, Primerica will suffer irreparable harm and may be subjected to defending against multiple claims presented in separate actions and forums, putting it at great risk of having to pay in excess of the benefit and exposing it to double or multiple liability,” Primerica stated in its complaint for interpleader.

It also requested that all of the defendants, their heirs and anyone connected to the insurance policy be permanently blocked from taking legal action against Primerica or any of its agents and representatives when it comes to the policy and amount in question. It also asked that its agents and representatives be removed from any responsibility in the matter.
