ST. LOUIS – A patient is seeking damages from a St. Louis physician after his esophagus was perforated during a surgery.

Ebrum Williams filed a complaint on June 28 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Jacob Buchowski MD and Washington University alleging medical negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 22, 2016, he underwent an anterior approach, multi-level cervical fusion performed by defendant Buchowski at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. The plaintiff alleges his esophagus was perforated during the operation and he needed another surgery to repair it.

The plaintiff holds Buchowski and Washington University responsible because defendant Buchowski allegedly deviated from the standard of care.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount of more than $50,000, plus costs of this action. He is represented by Eugene H. Fahrenkrog Jr. in Clayton.
