ST. LOUIS – The children of a man fatally shot while at work are seeking damages from the man's employer.

Ashli Singleton and Daryl Singleton Jr., as representatives of the estate of Daryl Singleton Sr., deceased filed a complaint on June 29 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against LP's Grocery and Liquor LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Dec. 7, 2017, Daryl Singleton Sr. was in the course and scope of his employment with the defendant when he and a co-worker were fatally shot by an individual while outside taking a break.

The plaintiffs hold LP's Grocery and Liquor LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide adequate security to protect its employees, patrons and customers.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment in their favor for all damages suffered and all other relief that is equitable and just. They are represented by Nuru Witherspoon of The Witherspoon Law Group in Dallas.
