ST. LOUIS – An African-American male alleges he was subjected to harassment and discrimination while he was employed by a St. Louis company.

Derrick Bethea filed a complaint on July 18 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against VendTech-SGI LLC, et al. alleging that they violated the Missouri Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was employed by VendTech as a private security officer and worked in St. Louis and Chesterfield. The suit states he was terminated July 11, 2017, for calling off three times in 90 days, which he alleges is false.

The plaintiff holds Vendtech-SGI LLC, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly subjected him to a hostile work environment, harassment, discrimination, retaliation and termination due to his race and color and for complaining of harassment and discrimination.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages in an amount of more than $25,000, plus costs, fees and expenses and all other relief that are proper and just. He is represented by Kevin J. Kasper and Ryan P. Schellert of Kasper Law Firm LLC in St. Charles.
