ST. LOUIS – An Illinois woman alleges a St. Louis facility terminated her in retaliation for reporting sexual harassment.

Earlene L. Thomas filed a complaint on July 18 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Royal Oak Nursing and Rehab LLC and Donald L. Schmidt citing the Missouri Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was employed by the defendants as an activities director at Royal Oak. She alleges Schmidt subjected her to sexual harassment and the conduct created a hostile and offensive work environment. The suit states on Feb. 22, she discussed Schmidt's conduct with Royal Oak's regional manager and she was terminated from her employment the following day.

The plaintiff holds Royal Oak Nursing and Rehab LLC and Schmidt responsible because the defendants allegedly discriminated against her because of her sex regarding the terms and conditions of her employment.

The plaintiff seeks compensatory and punitive damages, with interest, costs, fees and all other relief that are just and appropriate. She is represented by Anthony M. Pezzani and Emily W. Kalla of Engelmeyer & Pezzani LLC in Chesterfield.
