ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis man alleges that his short-term disability benefits were wrongfully terminated.

Gregory Gist filed a complaint on July 16 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Life Insurance Co. of North America alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff demanded short-term disability benefits from the defendant in October 2016 and the benefits were granted. The suit states that Jan. 9, 2017, defendant terminated his disability benefits retroactive to Dec. 11, 2016, which he appealed.

The plaintiff alleges he is owed $11,264 in short-term disability benefits.

The plaintiff seeks an order declaring that he is disabled, payment for all unpaid benefits, plus interest, penalties, attorney's fees, costs and all other relief that are just and proper. He is represented by Loretta K. Haggard of Schuchat, Cook & Werner in St. Louis.
