ST. LOUIS – The widow of a man killed while riding a bicycle in St. Louis is seeking damages from the motorist who allegedly struck him.

Karen Falkner filed a complaint on July 16 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Michael Russo alleging wrongful death.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 31, 2017, plaintiff's husband, John Falkner, was traveling on his bicycle on Jamieson Avenue near its intersection with Hampton Avenue in St. Louis when he was struck by a vehicle driven by the defendant. The suit states he suffered serious brain and body injuries that resulted in his death on April 1, 2017.

The plaintiff holds Russo responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to sound or give any warning of his approach.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in a fair and reasonable amount of more than $25,000, plus costs and all other relief that is just and proper. She is represented by Andrew L. Mandel of Mandel & Mandel in St. Louis and Finley D. Gibbs of Gibbs Legal Consulting in Columbia.
