ST. LOUIS – A mother and her children allege they were injured escaping a fire in their apartment building because the property did not have a fire escape.

Tywania Cole, Alexius Johnson and Aaliyah Johnson filed a complaint on July 16 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Paris Dixon and Craig Dixon alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Dec. 14, 2013, they were injured when they were forced to jump from the second-floor window of their St. Louis apartment building to escape a fire. They allege they sustained serious injuries consisting of smoke inhalation and broken bones and required hospitalization.

The plaintiffs hold Paris Dixon and Craig Dixon responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to install properly working fire alarms and failed to have fire escapes in the property.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendants in an amount of more than $25,000, pus costs and all other relief that are proper and just. They are represented by Sheila R. Stuart of The Law Office of Sheila R. Stuart LLC in Clayton and Melvin Smith of The Law Offices of Melvin J. Smith in St. Louis.
