ST. LOUIS – A tenant of a St. Louis apartment alleges that she was injured when the bathroom ceiling collapsed on her.

Sharlene Plair filed a complaint on July 26 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Kim Kowalewski alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 4, 2013, she was using the restroom at the apartment she was renting from defendant when the roof collapsed on her, causing injury. She alleges she informed the defendant multiple times before the ceiling collapsed that the apartment was uninhabitable due to hazardous mold, deteriorating floors, bed bugs and exposed electrical wiring.

The plaintiff holds Kowalewski responsible because the defendant failed to make the premises safe for Plair.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $25,000, award for punitive damages, and all other relief that are just and proper. She is represented by Joseph A. Ott of Ott Law Firm in St. Louis.
