ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis man alleges a website posted his mugshot and then unlawfully attempted to charge him to remove it.

Kevin E. Boone filed a complaint on Aug. 6 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Edmund Ben Tauk, doing business as STL Mugshots, and STL Mugshots Removal citing Missouri Revisor of Statutes.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2015, his full name and mug shot photo were posted at defendants' website and Facebook page. He alleges he contacted the defendants to get the posting removed and was told that the plaintiff would have to meet in person and pay $500 for its removal. The suit states the plaintiff refused this offer and that posting is still viewable.

He alleges the defendants' conduct violates Missouri law because they disseminated criminal record information to solicit or accept a fee to remove the information.

The plaintiff holds Tauk and STL Mugshots Removal responsible because the defendants allegedly caused the plaintiff to suffer extreme embarrassment, loss of reputation and public humiliation.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount of more than $25,000. He is represented by J. Justin Meehan in St. Louis.
