ST. LOUIS – A woman alleges a St. Louis skilled nursing facility failed to properly care for her late mother.
Shanika Irving, as daughter and next friend of Sandra Irving, deceased filed a complaint on Aug. 1 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Alexian Brothers Landsdowne Village, et al. alleging medical malpractice and wrongful death.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Sandra Irving was a resident at defendants' nursing home facility in St. Louis for approximately three years. The suit states on Feb. 15, 2017, Sandra Irving was diagnosed with sepsis, dry gangrene, and an ischemic and pulseless left foot with an ulcer of the left lower extremity. She died on Feb. 25, 2017, the suit states.
The plaintiff holds Alexian Brothers Landsdowne Village, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to prevent the development of gangrene on decedent's left foot, failed to timely respond to her ischemic left foot and failed to refer her to a specialist.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in excess of the jurisdictional limits of the court and all other relief that is just and proper. She is represented by Gary K. Burger of Burger Law LLC in St. Louis.
