ST. LOUIS – A Kansas man alleges his disability and opposition to a discriminatory work environment were factors in his termination from a St. Louis-based company.

David Meyer filed a complaint on Aug. 9 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Neumayer Equipment Co., et al. alleging violation of the Missouri Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is a 46-year-old Caucasian man and began his employment with Neumayer Equipment in April 2015 as a branch and sales manager for the Kansas City, Missouri area. The suit states he has back injuries but was able to perform his duties.

The plaintiff alleges he complained of employees using offensive and derogatory words toward minorities to the owner during his employment.

The plaintiff alleges on April 10, 2017, he was terminated from his employment with the defendant because of his disability/perceived disability and because of his opposition to discrimination.

The plaintiff holds Neumayer Equipment Co., et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly subjected him to discriminatory and harassing conduct because of his association with minorities and his disability.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, costs, attorney's fees and any other relief that is just and proper. He is represented by Anne Schiavone and Kathleen E. Mannion of Holman Schiavone LLC in Kansas City.
