ST. LOUIS – An Illinois corporation alleges more than $60,000 worth of inventory was destroyed in a fire at a St. Louis warehouse and that the warehouse's owners have failed to reimburse it.

Schermerhorn Bros. Co. filed a complaint on Aug. 10 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against GFA Decorative Trade Services Inc., doing business as Park Warehouse Services, and Folsom Group II LLC alleging breach of bailment contract, negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 15, 2017, the plaintiff's bailing wires and plastic bags stored at defendants' Park Warehouse were destroyed by fire. The plaintiff alleges the items had a value of $64,505.45.

The plaintiff holds GFA Decorative Trade Services Inc. and Folsom Group II LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly falsely represented to the public that the goods stored in their warehouse were protected from fire through a building-wide fire suppression system and failed to compensate the plaintiff for the loss of the inventory.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount of more than $25,000, with interest, attorney's fees, costs and all other relief that is just and proper. It is represented by Maria L. Saber and James I. Tarman Jr. of Cozen O. Connor in Chicago, Illinois.
