ST. LOUIS – A patient of a St. Louis nursing facility and his wife allege the facility's operators failed to prevent him from falling.

Veiz and Suada Mujicic filed a complaint on Aug. 17 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Royal Oak Nursing and Rehab LLC and Royal Oak Nursing and Rehab Properties LLC alleging medical negligence.

According to the complaint, Veiz Mujicic was a patient at defendants' St. Louis nursing home and developed multiple and worsening pressure sores, was improperly and inadequately fed and was found in his room with a fractured leg on Aug. 18.

The plaintiffs hold Royal Oak Nursing and Rehab LLC and Royal Oak Nursing and Rehab Properties LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to have and enforce policies regarding fall prevention, timely monitoring and care and pressure sore prevention and treatment.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendants in a fair and reasonable amount, plus punitive damages, and all other relief that are appropriate. They are represented by Genevieve Nichols of Coffey & Nichols Attorneys at Law in St. Louis.
