ST. LOUIS – A man who was struck by a vehicle while operating a scooter in St. Louis is seeking damages from the vehicle's owner.

Brian Mataya filed a complaint on Aug. 20 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Stephanie Griffin alleging personal injury.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 25, he was operating a scooter at the intersection of Gravois and Hampton avenues in St. Louis when Marco Flores-Rosete, who was operating the defendant's vehicle, collided with him. The plaintiff alleges his leg was seriously, painfully and permanently injured, requiring amputation. He alleges he also suffered a fractured clavicle and ribs and injuries to his neck and back as a result of the collision.

The plaintiff holds Griffin responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to determine that Flores-Rosete was in improper physical state and condition to operate her vehicle and negligently and wrongfully entrusted her vehicle to Flores-Rosete.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount of more than $25,000, plus costs and all other relief that is proper and just. He is represented by John S. Wallach and Bruce J. Weingart of Law Office of John S. Wallach PC in St. Louis.
