ST. LOUIS – A patient of a St. Louis hospital alleges that he was injured while under its care because of its negligence.

Herbert Koonce and Rosetta Koonce filed a complaint on Aug. 24 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Barnes-Jewish Hospital alleging medical malpractice.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that in Aug. 31, 2015, Herbert Koonce came under the care and treatment of the defendant. He alleges the defendant failed to maintain a sterile field to place a lumbar drain and that he was injured as a result of this negligence.

The plaintiffs hold Barnes-Jewish Hospital responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to exercise the requisite standard of care for a reasonably prudence hospital.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendant in a sum of no less than $25,000, plus costs. They are represented by John J. Hopkins of Gori, Julian & Associates PC in Alton, Illinois.
