Armstrong Teasdale issued the following announcement on Sept. 6.

Armstrong Teasdale is proud to announce that Daniel M. Fitzgerald, a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property practice group, and Michael S. Jefferies, a partner in the Corporate Services practice group, have been listed among the top attorneys in St. Louis by St. Louis Small Business Monthly. Fitzgerald was named the top patent attorney, and Jefferies was named among the top five best M&A providers.

The publication also listed Armstrong Teasdale among the top five best law firms in St. Louis.

Fitzgerald advises his clients on the strategic aspects associated with enforcing or defending patent rights. He has been involved in a number of patent infringement controversies involving the enforcement of patent rights, the defense of product-producing clients and challenging the validity of patents. He also manages patent estates involving several thousand patent and trademark matters, including supervising and performing all phases of patent and trademark prosecution in the United States and throughout the world. He also develops and implements programs to monitor intellectual property activities by competitors, and facilitates and manages internal innovation efforts.

Jefferies guides public and private companies through all phases of the purchase and sale of businesses and assets. This work includes pre-transaction planning, due diligence, deal and information management, preparation and negotiation of purchase and other transaction agreements, closings, post-closing matters, and business integration. He leads transactions involving equity and assets, mergers, venture capital, private equity and bank financings, joint ventures, and corporate reorganizations and restructurings. Jefferies’ experience extends to the purchase of assets and businesses through managed sale processes as well as in bankruptcy, receivership and other distressed situations.

The honors appear in the publication’s 2018-2019 Business Owners’ Guide, a year-round reference for business owners containing lists of best companies and 150 other business resources. In addition, winners and finalists will be honored at a luncheon Oct. 24 at the St. Charles Convention Center.
